Remote I/O Modules

Remote I/O modules are used to transfer analog and digital field signals to centralized PLC, SCADA or data acquisition systems. You can explore products with Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet and Wi-Fi communication according to your required I/O type, channel count and connectivity needs.

What Does a Remote I/O Module Do?

Remote I/O modules allow field signals to be transferred to a central system over a communication network instead of wiring each signal individually back to the control panel. With different channel types such as digital inputs, digital outputs, relay outputs, analog inputs and analog outputs, they provide additional I/O capacity for PLC, SCADA or data acquisition software.

Which Criteria Are Important When Selecting Modbus I/O?

First, the types of signals to be monitored or controlled and the required number of channels should be determined. If analog inputs such as Pt100, thermocouple, 4-20 mA or 0-10 V will be used, the input structure and resolution of the product should be checked. On the communication side, RS-485 Modbus RTU, Ethernet Modbus TCP or wireless connectivity options should be selected according to the system architecture. Isolation, update rate, local logging/buffer functionality and relay capacity may also be important depending on the application.

Remote I/O products can be used in projects such as production monitoring, energy monitoring, machine status acquisition, alarm signal transmission and adding new measurement points to an existing system. At Tesla Kontrol, we provide support with preparing the I/O map, defining the communication architecture and selecting the appropriate modules.
